Sport Cares Programmes

Comprehensive whole-person support for athletes and communities

SPORT CARES

Wellbeing Academy

The Sport Cares Wellbeing Academy is a pioneering training and development programme designed specifically for current and former athletes, equipping them with the skills, confidence and qualifications to build fulfilling careers beyond sport.

By developing leadership, wellbeing and employability, the Academy empowers athletes to become inspirational role models delivering life-changing programmes for disadvantaged young people in communities across the UK.

Through these athlete role models, the Academy helps young people and adults improve their wellbeing, build resilience, strengthen social connections and raise their motivation and aspirations, creating lasting impact both for the athletes and for the communities they enrich.

Our Academy opens doors to endless possibilities within and beyond sport.

SPORT CARES

For Young People

Offload – Using the power of sport, and delivered by former professional athletes, Offload supports Young People aged 16-24 to build confidence, develop resilience and strengthen social connections. A pilot commissioned by UK Government in 2025 showed improvements in wellbeing and resilience, social connections, improved relationships and increased motivation and future ambitions.

Movember's Ahead of the Game – In partnership with global men's health charity Movember, and with professional sport foundations across the country, Ahead of the Game supports young people, parents, coaches and volunteers to understand mental health and build mental fitness. It ensures that when young people are faced with challenges, they know who they can talk to and that their community has their back. To date, this support has reached over 70,000 young people in England and Wales.
